An agent\u2019s recommendation for revocation does not necessarily mean the opportunity for an Alternative to Revocation is gone.<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2675e5ed elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2675e5ed\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"994\" data-end=\"1207\">If your probation or extended supervision agent is recommending revocation, it can feel like the decision has already been made. But a recommendation for revocation is not the same thing as a completed revocation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1581\">Wisconsin DOC recognizes Alternatives to Revocation as a response to supervision violations, and whether an ATR remains appropriate depends on the circumstances of the case. DOC has also expressly acknowledged that even after someone fails an ATR, another ATR or intervention may still be considered when the circumstances support it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"1583\" data-end=\"1625\">The more important question is not simply:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1627\" data-end=\"1669\"><strong data-start=\"1627\" data-end=\"1669\">\u201cHave I already had too many chances?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1671\" data-end=\"1677\">It is:<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1679\" data-end=\"1750\"><strong data-start=\"1679\" data-end=\"1750\">\u201cIs there a reason to believe a different ATR could actually work?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1752\" data-end=\"1786\">That is where the analysis begins.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f20a9e9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f20a9e9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">A Revocation Recommendation Is Not Always the End of the Analysis<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dee868e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dee868e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"1912\" data-end=\"2015\">An agent\u2019s recommendation matters. But it does not answer every question about what should happen next.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2017\" data-end=\"2150\">The real issue is whether there is a meaningful alternative to revocation that addresses the problems that kept producing violations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2152\" data-end=\"2238\">Sometimes that means looking closely at what happened in the earlier treatment or ATR:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"1hxeocj\" data-start=\"2240\" data-end=\"2290\">Was the underlying problem correctly identified?<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"wth5fc\" data-start=\"2291\" data-end=\"2326\">Was the right treatment provided?<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1yqftxi\" data-start=\"2327\" data-end=\"2363\">Was the level of care appropriate?<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1toj4t4\" data-start=\"2364\" data-end=\"2450\">Did the client actually understand and benefit from the way treatment was delivered?<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"uxfvk2\" data-start=\"2451\" data-end=\"2533\">Were mental-health, substance-use, trauma, learning, or cognitive issues missed?<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1h5ikoh\" data-start=\"2534\" data-end=\"2627\">Was there enough structure, monitoring, housing support, transportation, or follow-through?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"2629\" data-end=\"2722\">A new ATR is much easier to defend when it is not simply <strong data-start=\"2686\" data-end=\"2721\">another chance at the same plan.\u00a0 <\/strong>It needs to be meaningfully different.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-49bb6c9 elementor-position-left elementor-view-default elementor-mobile-position-top elementor-widget elementor-widget-icon-box\" data-id=\"49bb6c9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"icon-box.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-wrapper\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t<span  class=\"elementor-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"far fa-check-square\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-icon-box-content\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-icon-box-title\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span  >\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThree failed programs may simply mean the same underlying problem was missed three times.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h4>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Usually, no.
